URBO Bank and DECTA Launch Visa Card Issuing Ahead of Schedule

Delivering innovation and seamless digital banking through advanced processing and tokenization solutions.

January 07, 2025

Background

Urbo Bank, a pioneering financial institution in Lithuania, is undergoing a significant transformation following its rebranding from Medicinos Bankas. With a vision to create a seamless, efficient, and fully digital banking experience, Urbo Bank partnered with DECTA, an advanced, certified payment technology provider, to leverage DECTA’s Issuer Processing services and Tokenization Solutions. This partnership will allow Urbo Bank to issue Visa payment cards and enable popular digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Challenge

As part of their transformation, Urbo Bank planned to elevate its offering with cutting-edge digital services, aiming to stand out in an increasingly competitive market. They required a reliable  payment processor to handle the entire card issuing process — from the initial integration with Visa, card ordering to the final card delivery. Additionally, the goal is  to offer the bank’s customers the convenience of digital wallets, which require robust tokenization services. Urbo Bank also aims to offer its customers complete control over their card usage in a fully digital environment. This meant introducing features like view and manage purchase limits, control spending channels, temporarily block or unblock the card, replace lost or permanently blocked cards, update card delivery information and much more.

To meet these goals, they needed a highly automated solution with robust API capabilities, allowing them to streamline operations and deliver a modern, feature-rich banking experience.

Solution

Understanding the unique requirements of Urbo Bank, DECTA provided a customized solution that encompassed the following key components:

  • Tokenization Services: DECTA integrated Tokenization Solutions, enabling Urbo Bank’s clients to use digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay;
  • 3D Secure v2: To enhance security and reduce fraud, DECTA implemented the latest 3D Secure v2 solution, ensuring a smoother authentication process for customers during online transactions while maintaining high levels of security;
  • Issuing API: DECTA provided Urbo Bank with a powerful Issuing API, empowering the Bank to automate and  efficiently manage daily operations, including card issuance and activation, monitoring and controlling card transactions, limits and statuses, managing card holders contact information, and handling card top-ups, withdrawals, encrypted PIN, PAN, and CVV retrieval.

DECTA’s team worked closely with Urbo Bank to align with their vision and meet the Bank's specific needs.

Our focus was not just on providing technology, but on delivering a customized, high-quality service that exceeded expectations and ensured a successful, ahead-of-schedule launch. This achievement underscores DECTA's position as the fastest, most reliable, and advanced processor in the market.
